The Technical/SEC Manager, Accounting will support Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting functions, including 10Q and 10K, supporting the development of the proxy statement and Form 8-ks, along with research and write up of technical accounting issues and new business initiatives with accounting implications.  This role will work closely with the senior management team members, various finance and accounting personnel, as well as with our external auditors. Position reports to the CFO.

 Principal Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on SEC disclosure requirements for the Company's 10-Q and 10-K filings.
  • Help manage the company's XBRL reporting and control framework.
  • Review the Company's financial statements and footnotes for compliance with US GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements. 
  • Complete the US GAAP checklist and SEC reporting checklist to support the Company's quarterly SEC filings. 
  • Research accounting literature and apply technical accounting standards to complex business issues and transactions, particularly in the area of revenue recognition.
  • Ensure financial statements are consistent with U.S. GAAP and SEC rules, including newly issued pronouncements.
  • Prepare written accounting position papers on an as-needed basis for review by management and external auditors.
  • Assist with the Company's SOX compliance efforts, including maintenance of the Company's SOX documentation and compliance over the financial reporting processes. 
  • Responsible for implementation of new accounting pronouncements including:
    • ASC 606--Revenue from Contracts with Customers
    • ASU 2016-02--Leases
    • ASU 2016-09--Employee Share-Based Payment Accounting Improvements
  • Document and analyze goodwill impairment analyses, segmentation, and other technical accounting topics and transactions.
  • Assist with the Company's SOX compliance efforts, including maintenance of the Company's SOX documentation and compliance over the financial reporting processes.

 Educational and Experience

  • CPA required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of combined accounting industry and private industry experience
  • Experience in SEC reporting and technical accounting, including familiarity with XBRL reporting required
  • Pharmaceutical / Life Science industry experience preferred
  • Good written and oral communication skills; ability to synthesize information; strong interpersonal skills, ability to work cross functionally within the company, and to manage relationships with external consultants.
  • Willingness and desire to be a hands-on contributor
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver effective results
  • Must be able and willing to work extended, non-traditional hours as needed during peak periods.

This role will be performed primarily in an office environment, with frequent computer use at a workstation.  Successful applicants will be able to function throughout the office environment.
