Bioanalytical Scientist

Selecta Biosciences is seeking a talented Scientist to join its Bioanalytical team to provide leadership in the areas of bioanalytical and biomarker assays.  The Scientist will participate on project teams to define and execute bioanalytical and biomarker strategies using various technical platforms (ligand binding, cell-based and PCR assays).They will contribute to the expansion of the bioanalytical assay portfolio to align with multiple preclinical and clinical program needs, based on the company's proprietary synthetic nanoparticle technology developed to elicit the desired and optimal immune response.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Bioanalytical Laboratory, the Scientist will lead project specific activities to establish bioanalytical and quantitative and pharmacodynamically relevant biomarker assays, providing nonclinical and clinical endpoint data for drug candidates.

The successful candidate will manage the release of timely and accurate data per project responsibilities and group priorities.  Position will supervise junior scientists in assay design, implementation, troubleshooting and sample analysis.  The position requires critical data analysis and effective data presentation across the various technical platforms used by the group, and representation of the Bioanalytical Laboratory group on cross-functional teams.  The candidate must have excellent documentation skills, maintaining complete, accurate and timely records in notebooks and contributing to reports and publications. As the Bioanalytical Laboratory interacts closely with other groups in the organization, most notably Biology, the candidate will contribute to transparent and reliable cross-functional collaboration. 

 Education and Experience Requirements:

A degree in Biochemistry, Immunology or related field, a PhD with 2-3 years or M.S with 5+ years of relevant research industry experience. Title and compensation will be commensurate to experience. 

 Additional requirements include:

  • Expertise in developing and running ligand binding assays including anti-drug antibody analyses is required
  • Expertise in performing cell-based assays and quantitative PCR assays highly desirable
  • Must have solid knowledge of regulatory expectations for bioanalytical and biomarker assays
  • Experience in GLP validation of assays is required
  • Excellent attention to details, critical thinking and data interpretation
  • Ability to work with demanding deadlines and in a fast-paced work environment
  • Involvement in a high-throughput environment desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Excellent teamwork and collaborative skills

  Work Environment:

An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to Company policies, rules, and regulations is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee handles hazardous chemicals in the laboratory. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, shoes, and lab coat. Position may require long periods of standing.

The Company has active programs on developing novel immunotherapies for various food and environmental allergies.  An employee may be required to work with and/or be exposed to allergens in the laboratory.
