Senior Scientist: Gene Therapy Engineering

 The successful candidate will have a degree in Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline. He or she will have a high level of expertise in R&D of viral vectors, specifically AAV, including triple transfection and baculovirus technology. This person will possess excellent acumen in both the subject matter of gene therapy products, as well as the ins and outs of cGMP manufacturing of gene therapy products.  In addition, the ideal candidate will have a minimum combination of 7+ years' experience that includes upstream experience, bioprocess development and contracting with pharmaceutical companies, particularly dealing directly with CDMOs.

Your scope of work with Selecta is very rewarding! Some travel is involved. Clear, consistent coordination between multiple entities, both internal and external, is also required. As a Sr. Engineer/Scientist, you supervise the implementation of technological transfers to CDMOs and most especially monitor the quality and scalability of the gene therapy products being developed, manufactured, and delivered. Your hands-on leadership and expertise is required to develop relationships and most importantly problem-solve whenever necessary in R&D, at CDMO locations, and within development teams.


  • Bachelor's degree or higher (advanced degree preferred)

Hands-on work in an R&D laboratory and traveling to CDMOs to work in their clean rooms.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may handle hazardous chemicals in the laboratory.  The Company has active programs developing novel immunotherapies for various food and environmental allergies.  An employee may be required to work with and/or be exposed to allergens in the laboratory.
